At GLOBECOM 2016, we have organised a successful lounge event featuring an award ceremony, panel discussion and a reception. Some pictures from the event can be found below.
COMSOC YPs co-sponsored an event with the Photonics Society YPs at the Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) conference in Anaheim, CA in March 2016.
The event started off with a networking reception followed by a few presentations. The first two presentations were brief overview of the Photonic Society and COMSOC YP activities and programs presented by the Society’s YP reps. The last presentation was an inspiring talk by Dr. Simon Poole titled “Confessions of a Serial Entrepreneur”.
There were over 100 attendees at the event. The event attracted many corporate sponsors such as Finisar, Optium, etc.

COMSOC YP has organised a panel discussion at ICC 2016 in Malaysia on “Trends in Communications”. The panel was moderated by Dr. Imran Shafique Ansari,
(Postdoctoral Research Associate (PRA), Texas A&M University at Qatar), the panellist were: Dr. Gopi Kurup (CEO of Telekom R&D and GM of Product Management, TM VADs), Dr. Dilip Krishnaswamy (Senior research scientist at IBM Research, India), Dr. Nordin Ramli (Staff Researcher, MIMOS Berhad, Malaysia). At GLOBECOM 2015, COMSOC Young Professionals co-sponsored an event with the Industry Forum and Exhibitions at GLOBECOM 2015 titled “How to be successful in communications”
It was a successful event with over 200 young professionals, IEEE officials and leaders from industry, academia and startup companies in attendance. The event included a reception, award ceremony, a two-part panel discussions and networking mixer. The event attracted notable corporate sponsors such as Qualcomm, Intel and General Atomics.
